My name is Reimi Patterson-Davidson, dba Baobab Bridge, a Black history and genealogy research service.
I work with clients who live, work, and go to school in predominantly non-Black spaces and environments where finding access to Black historians and genealogy researchers can be challenging for Black and non-Black people.
Physically, I am currently in Portland, Oregon but also work remotely with clients from anywhere!
I am not in competition with other Black historians and genealogy researchers - I want us all to serve the Black community as a collective! If you are near or part of a thriving Black community, reach out to Black historians, librarians, and genealogy researchers to see how they can help you.
However, if you live in non-Black spaces or the Black community in your neighborhood is fractured and you don't have access to Black historians/genealogy researchers for services to Black people, please reach out to me!
I have African DNA in my blood through my father. I have conducted African American genealogy research for over 15 years. My BA and MA degrees are in the field of history and I have specialized in African American history with a focus on the history of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade for over 20 years now. I also research Black soldiers and volunteer with the Kentucky U.S. Colored Troops Project, where I research Black Civil War USCT soldiers and try to reconnect their history with living descendants.
The Baobab tree is also known as the 'Tree of Life' and is native to Africa. The Baobab tree has been introduced to other parts of the world like Hawai'i where I was born and raised. The roots of the Baobab tree, our African family tree, connects us back to Africa, no matter where we are.
Meet me at the Baobab Bridge and we'll cross it together ❤️
