I am Black and Japanese, and use the she/hers pronouns. I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and have lived in Hawai'i for most of my life. I currently live in Portland, Oregon.

New Mexico State University: MA in History. Focus: U.S. / African American History & Environmental history; history of environmental racism; comparative environmental histories of Native Hawaiians and Native Americans under white supremacist culture and colonialism.

San Jose State University: MLIS coursework in Library and Information studies. Focus: History racism in American libraries, British and American archival repositories; conducted research on Black experiences in public and college libraries, and archival repositories, microaggressions experienced by white librarians; lack of cultural competency when trying to find resources about Black reparations in libraries and information centers.
Government Historian fellowship: Three years conducting military repatriation research, focus WWII; archival research abroad.
I have also maintained a career of over ten years serving college students in student records, admissions, enrollment, academic advising, and mentorship. Most recently, I worked in diversity, equity, and inclusion programming positions for Black and Brown high school and college students seeking teacher licensure in Oregon.
I am now a full time historian and genealogy researcher dba as Baobab Bridge.
